'DON'T SQUAWK, SEE THE “HAWK”

European & US Car Service is owned and managed by Warren Preis, known to everyone as the “Hawk”.

Warren began his career at age 14 as an auto detailer for Lee Calan Imports, an auto dealership specializing in Volvo, Jaguar, MG’s and Triumphs. He continued working there through high school and college and in 1980 became the General Manager. He developed life long, hands on experiences in service writing, manufacturer warranty work, new and used car sales, wholesale purchasing and finance, and auto body collision work.

European & US Car Service opened for business on April 19, 1984 at 3500 N. Halsted St, in Chicago’s Lakeview / Wrigleyville neighborhood. In 1990 the business expanded into 4080 N. Broadway and in 2001 became our sole location. In 2014 we celebrated our 30th year in business.

Reviews

"First week at my first job, my engine light comes on. Week two, brakes start screeching. I'm stressed and haven't had my first paycheck yet. But right behind my apartment is this great mechanic. The guys understood my situation with limited budget and having to maneuver around my work schedule. They could have ripped me off due to my young age and lack of car knowledge, but instead they made a point of educating me. When the brake pads became the more urgent problem to fix, they researched and figured out that I really didn't have to fix the engine light issue right away. They could have easily told me I had to get it fixed immediately, but they didn't. At one point, they even threw out the option of using a different mechanic closer to my work to make the logistics easier. The labor cost is a little expensive, but they're worth it, they take care of you, and they gave me a discount. The staff knows that if you treat someone right the first time, they'll come back in the future. This is the case for me and I would advise anyone I know to consult European for the next repair too. 5 stars." - Brianna S., Chicago, IL
